This is pose 01 of the Zombie Displacer Beast range by Novaminis. Where a living displacer beast is a terrifying predator of illusion and lightning reflexes, this undead variant is something altogether more unsettling — a creature that has already been killed, yet still stalks forward with its six clawed legs and coiling, tooth-lined tentacles raised to strike. Multiple arrows are lodged deep in the rotting flesh, a grim testament to a fight someone clearly lost. The hollowed eye sockets, slack jaw, and exposed muscle detail along the flanks give the sculpt a visceral, corrupted quality that sets it apart from any standard undead encounter piece.

Crouched low and weight shifted onto its front legs, this pose reads as mid-stalk — not the frenzied lunge of a mindless zombie, but the patient, driven advance of something guided by necromantic will. The two tentacles arc high overhead, one tipped with a maw of serrated teeth and the other curling in readiness. It photographs beautifully from every angle, making it equally at home on the tabletop or a display shelf.

A great pick for adventurers who:

  • Run encounters where undead and aberrant threats collide
  • Need a memorable centrepiece monster for a necromancer's menagerie
  • Want a high-detail beast mini that rewards careful painting
  • Are building a Ravenloft, Underdark, or corrupted wilderness setting
  • Collect Novaminis creatures for display alongside other undead pieces

Encounter Hook:
The ranger's quiver is empty, and the beast is still moving. Three arrows in the shoulder, two through the flank — and it hasn't slowed. As the tentacles sweep low across the forest floor, scattering the party, the cleric realises with dawning horror that no turn undead attempt has worked. Something is controlling it, and that something is watching from the treeline.

Details

Supplied at 32mm scale. Available with or without a plain black base — the base arrives unattached and can be fixed in place with a small amount of glue. Arrives cleaned of supports and ready for priming and painting, though it's entirely at home on the table as-is. As with all hand-finished pieces, minor marks from the printing process are possible and easily tidied up.
