This is pose 02 of the Young Black Dragon range by Novaminis, and it captures the beast mid-confrontation — wings thrown wide, one foreclaw raised and reaching, jaws parted in a snarl that promises dissolution. Black dragons are among the most sadistic of the chromatic flights: territorial, cunning, and fuelled by a deep-seated resentment that only sharpens as they age. This sculpt catches one in that dangerous window — young enough to be reckless, old enough to be genuinely lethal.
The detail across this sculpt rewards a close eye. The wing membranes are leathery and taut, edged with hooked spurs. The dorsal spines bristle behind a skull-like face framed in swept horns. From the front-facing angle the creature reads as a predator about to spring; from the side and rear it shows the coiled, crouching tension of something that has already decided to attack. Both perspectives are worth painting to — this miniature earns its place on a display shelf as much as on a battlemat.
