The Yochlol is one of the Underdark's most unsettling presences — a handmaiden of Lolth herself, capable of shapeshifting between a beautiful drow form and this: a churning, tentacle-wreathed abomination that radiates wrongness from every lashing limb. This second sculpt from Novaminis captures the creature mid-surge, its body an explosion of sinuous tendrils coiling outward in every direction, a single eyeless head-form cresting the chaos like a terrible figurehead on a ship made of nightmares.

The level of sculptural complexity here is genuinely impressive — each tentacle has its own weight and trajectory, suggesting violent, purposeful motion rather than random flailing. The organic texturing across the central mass contrasts with the smoother, almost liquid quality of the outstretched limbs, giving painters a rich variety of surfaces to work with: deep crevices for washes, raised ridges for dry-brushing, and large smooth planes that reward smooth-blending techniques. Purples, ochres, and fleshy pinks are traditional choices, though an ichor-black scheme with violet highlights reads exceptionally well on this particular sculpt.

This is variation 02 in Novaminis' Yochlol series — where the first sculpt presents a different dynamic pose, this one emphasises explosive outward reach, with tentacles fanning wide in a silhouette that dominates the tabletop.
