The Wraith Mother is a haunting presence on any tabletop — a towering undead figure who rises from a mound of scattered skulls, her rotting form half-corporeal, half-spectral. Her tattered robes stream out behind her in layers of ghostly cloth, and in one raised hand she wields a grotesque scythe fashioned from a segmented spine, tipped with a skull. Every detail of her silhouette reads as dread given form.
Her face is a hollow, screaming mask of decay — open-mouthed and wild-haired, with bone and flesh merging in the way only the most ancient undead can manage. She clutches a skull close to her torso with her free hand, as though it holds some dark significance. The sculpt sits on a large 51mm base strewn with bones and skulls, giving her the commanding footprint she deserves. From the front, she is terrifying. From behind, she is even taller — the spine-scythe arcing dramatically overhead against her hooded silhouette.
This miniature photographs as an unpainted grey resin piece, showing exceptional detail across the flowing robes, the skeletal weapon, and the bone-scattered base. She is a large-scale piece with genuine presence at the table, and a rewarding subject for painters who want to work with contrast, washes, and spectral OSL effects.
A fine choice for adventurers who:
- Need a powerful undead boss or lieutenant for a necromancer's court
- Are running Ravenloft, Shadowfell, or graveyard-set encounters
- Want a centrepiece enemy with a strong, readable silhouette
- Enjoy painting ghostly fabrics, bone, and decay textures
- Are building out an undead warband with a commanding leader figure
Encounter Hook: The party descends into the crypt beneath the village chapel, following reports of graves left open and mourners gone missing. At the chamber's heart, surrounded by the risen dead of three generations, the Wraith Mother waits — not as a guardian, but as a harvester. She has been calling them here. She has been calling everyone here. And now she raises her scythe to add the party to her collection.
