From the Chronicles of Excalibur collection by Primal Collectibles, this Merlin bust captures the Arthurian archimage at the height of his enigmatic authority. Deep-cut folds of a weathered robe billow outward, the shoulders adorned with layered feather pauldrons that speak to a druid's kinship with the wild. A white falcon — wings half-spread, talons gripping his forearm — perches at his side, equal parts familiar and omen. In his other hand, a gnarled staff rises to a perfectly spherical orb, its surface smooth against the intricate wrap of the wood. His face, framed by a heavily sculpted beard and the ornate trim of a deep cowl, carries the particular weariness of a man who has already read the last chapter.
The reverse of the sculpt is equally considered — the mantle of feathers cascades across the full breadth of his back, and the base of the robe is ragged and worn at the hem, telling a story of long roads and older forests. This is a bust built for painters who want something to genuinely work with: layered textures in cloth, feather, fur, and carved wood all occupying the same piece, each demanding a different brush.
A fine choice for adventurers who:
- Want a centrepiece display bust that rewards hours of careful wet blending and layering
- Are building an Arthurian-themed collection or display shelf
- Need a compelling visual reference for a wizard mentor, archmage NPC, or ancient patron in a TTRPG campaign
- Play a Circle of Spores or archfey-adjacent Druid who sees nature and arcane power as one and the same
Encounter Hook: The party arrives at a stone circle deep in the Thornwood, summoned by a message written in smoke. Seated at its centre is an old man in a feathered cloak, a white falcon on his arm, an orb of glass-still light resting in the crook of his staff. He does not look up. He says only: "You took longer than I saw. Sit down. We have very little time, and I have already wasted most of it waiting for you."
This is a bust-scale display model from the Chronicles of Excalibur range, printed at display scale (larger than standard 32mm tabletop). It arrives unpainted and ready for your brushwork. The sculpt is printed with exceptional surface detail throughout — cloth weave, individual feather barbs, and beard texture are all faithfully reproduced. Supplied with a sculpted integral base as shown.
