Description

The ground shudders, stone cracks apart, and a churning spiral of water and force drags everything toward its hungry centre — the whirlpool has opened, and there is nowhere left to run.

  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This sculpt by Mia Kay M3DM captures a whirlpool mid-formation: jagged rocky outcroppings erupting around the rim, the earth torn apart by whatever force has opened this impossible vortex. The tightly coiled spiral at the centre draws the eye downward, suggesting depth and danger in equal measure. Whether it marks an ancient drain into the underdark, a planar rift pulling at reality's seams, or simply the point where a water elemental has punched through the floor, it demands your players' attention the moment it hits the table.

As a scatter piece it reads instantly — this is somewhere something has gone wrong. It works equally well as a dynamic encounter centrepiece, a hazard zone on a battle map, or a display piece that tells a story all on its own. The level of surface texture — from the rough broken stone at the edges to the smooth, hypnotic spiral — rewards painters who want a project with genuine visual interest.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Want a dramatic, location-defining hazard for their battle map
  • Are running aquatic, elemental, or planar encounters that need a focal point
  • Enjoy terrain painting projects with satisfying textural contrast
  • Build immersive display setups and dioramas for their collection

Encounter Hook:
The party has been tasked with retrieving a stolen artefact from a flooded ruin — but as they enter the central chamber, the floor gives way and a whirlpool tears open around the vault door. The artefact sits at its edge, spinning slowly toward the void. They have three rounds.
