The Wendigo doesn't stalk — it launches. This sculpt captures the creature mid-lunge, all savage momentum and barely restrained hunger. Gnarled antlers branch from its skull like dead timber split by lightning, and its maw hangs open wide, rows of jagged teeth catching the light. One arm rakes forward with hooked claws extended, the other flung back for balance as it springs from a single taloned foot. The body is a grotesque fusion of emaciated musculature and wild, matted fur — nature twisted into something that hunts.
The detail here rewards careful painting. The layered fur across the haunches and shoulders has genuine texture, the antlers are sharp enough to take a fine drybrush with ease, and the deeply sculpted face — that bulging eye, the flared gills or gill-like cheek ridges, the open jaw — will repay every hour spent on it. Whether you go pallid and frost-bleached or blood-dark and shadowed, this is a miniature that will dominate the table the moment it appears.
At large base size (51mm), the Wendigo naturally commands space at the encounter. It reads as a genuine threat the moment adventurers spot it on the mat — which, ideally, should be right before initiative is rolled.
Well-suited for adventurers who:
- Need a creature that communicates frenzied, explosive speed the instant it hits the table
- Are painting a wilderness horror encounter or forest-bound campaign arc
- Want a display piece that challenges their blending and wet-blending skills on organic surfaces
- Run horror-adjacent D&D, Pathfinder, or narrative RPG sessions where atmosphere matters
Encounter Hook: The party has been tracking a string of disappearances along the logging road between Ashfen and the Thornwall. On the third night of travel, the mule breaks its tether and bolts. Before anyone can speak, a shape clears the treeline in a single bound — antlers stark against the moon, claws outstretched — and lands squarely on the wagon.
