This Well Mimic is a gloriously deceptive piece of scatter terrain that doubles as a genuine encounter monster. The sculpt captures the creature mid-reveal: a rounded, fleshy body bursting from the brick well housing, rows of jagged teeth exposed and a dangling rope still in place to lure the unwary closer. Every detail — from the thatched wooden roof and wound winding-rope to the layered stonework of the well's base — sells the illusion before the horror drops the mask. A second sculpt shows the mimic in its fully disguised form: an entirely convincing village well, roof planks cleanly rendered, the hand-crank crossbar intact, giving nothing away whatsoever.

Together these two sculpts give Dungeon Masters everything they need — the lure and the reveal. As standalone pieces, each works brilliantly for dungeon dressing, wilderness village setups, or any scenario where the party's Perception rolls suddenly feel very important. Both are equally suited to painted display collections and active tabletop play.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Want a genuinely surprising mimic encounter beyond the classic chest
  • Are building a village, wilderness, or dungeon scatter terrain collection
  • Love painting creature reveals with two distinct stages of detail
  • Need a centrepiece prop that provokes instant paranoia at the table

Encounter Hook:
The hamlet's well has run dry for three days — or so the villagers claim. Every morning, old Aldric's bucket comes up empty, and last night the miller's boy swore he heard something shift under the cobblestones when he dropped a coin in and made a wish. The party is asked to investigate before the harvest festival draws a crowd to the square.

Both sculpts are scaled to 32mm. The mimic reveal model features the creature bursting from the well housing with teeth visible; the disguised version is a clean, standalone well piece. Supplied unpainted and ready for priming. Minor imperfections from the print process can occur and are easily addressed before painting.
