Watchman Halberdier 04 by Novaminis

The alarm bell rings, cobblestones blur underfoot, and the watchman rounds the corner at a full sprint — halberd already swinging into position, free hand balled into a fist, eyes locked on whoever thought they could run.

This is Watchman Halberdier 04 — the fourth sculpt in Novaminis' city watch range, and arguably the one with the most urgency baked into every detail. Where earlier variants stand their ground or brace for impact, this watchman is moving. He's mid-sprint, cloak billowing behind him, halberd angled low and forward in a two-handed grip with the axe-blade leading. His right arm is pumping with the effort of the chase, jaw set, expression somewhere between focused and furious.

The armour tells the story of a working soldier, not a ceremonial one. Riveted studded leather covers the chest and shoulders, hardworn and practical rather than parade-polished. A short sword sits sheathed at his hip — a backup plan if the halberd becomes unwieldy in a tight alley. His kettle helm sits slightly forward on his head, the brim catching the light in a way that suits the low-glow illumination of a torchlit city street. Tall leather boots, thick belt, and a slightly battered silhouette all reinforce the sense that this is a man who does this for a living — and has been doing it long enough to lose the nerves but keep the speed.

This specific variation is the sprinting pose, which makes it a natural fit for chase encounters, ambush scenes, or any moment where the party's actions have attracted official attention. The dynamic lean and outstretched stance give it excellent visual contrast against standing or bracing figures in the same unit grouping.

A good pick for adventurers who:

• Need NPC guards that look genuinely threatening in motion, not just standing at posts
• Are running city-based campaigns with active watch patrols and pursuit mechanics
• Want to build a varied watch unit using all four Halberdier sculpts
• Appreciate the challenge of painting a fast-moving figure with a sweeping cloak and detailed leather work
• Are after a display piece that captures the energy of a medieval urban chase scene

Encounter Hook:

The party's rogue has just lifted a sealed document from the courier — but the watchman on the far corner clocked the lift. He's already running, halberd cutting through the market crowd, shouting for his partner two streets over. The players have maybe thirty seconds before the city watch closes both ends of the alley. Place this miniature at full sprint heading straight for the exit — and watch the table suddenly pay very close attention to their movement speeds.
