Watchman Halberdier 03 by Novaminis

He's seen three city watch captains come and go, buried two of them, and he's still standing at the gate with his halberd levelled at anyone who looks like trouble.

This third variation of the Watchman Halberdier series from Novaminis captures a grizzled veteran mid-stride, his halberd swept low and wide in a battle-ready carry. The sculpt leans into the weary authority of a man who has enforced the law long enough to know exactly when a situation is about to go sideways. A broad-brimmed nasal helmet sits atop his head, the brim studded and practical. His armour is riveted leather over a sturdy coat — not the polished plate of palace guards, but the worn, functional kit of someone who actually works the streets.

The halberd itself is the real statement piece of this sculpt. The weapon's long haft is gripped at both points, with the axe blade, spike, and hook all clearly defined — a proper polearm rendered with convincing weight. His wide-legged stance and the momentum in his coat suggest he's mid-advance, not standing around waiting. A long coat flows behind him, and the fine detail on his pouches, belt fittings, and boot lacing reward close-up painting work beautifully.

This is the third sculpt in the Watchman Halberdier range, distinguishable by his more aggressive forward pose and the distinctive way he grips the halberd at the lower quarter of the haft. If you're building out a city watch patrol, mixing this variation with 01 and 02 creates a cohesive but visually varied unit that reads as a genuine group rather than a copy-paste formation.

Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:

• Need city watch NPCs, gate guards, or law enforcement encounters in urban campaigns
• Are running Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate, Ravnica, or any city-based setting
• Want a veteran fighter or mercenary NPC with genuine visual character
• Are building a city guard unit across multiple bases for display or gaming
• Paint historical or semi-historical fantasy figures and want something with real detail

Encounter Hook

The party rounds a corner in the merchant district to find a single watchman blocking the alley mouth, halberd level and expression flat. Behind him, smoke curls from a building. He doesn't move. He doesn't explain. He just says: "Turn around. Official business." Whether he's covering up something corrupt, protecting a scene, or simply following orders he doesn't fully understand — that's for your table to find out.
