Watchman Halberdier 01 by Novaminis

This is the first sculpt in Novaminis' Watchman Halberdier range, and it carries all the character that set makes its name on. The figure is a stocky, broad-shouldered guardsman caught in a confident at-ease stance — one hand gripping a tall halberd with a wide, curved axe blade, the other resting at his hip with a casual authority that says he's seen worse than your party. His studded leather breastplate is detailed with rows of rivets, and his pauldrons sit squarely on thick shoulders. A shortsword hangs at his belt alongside a pouch, and his feet are planted in sturdy buckled boots beneath a mid-length tabard that drapes behind him. The broad-brimmed kettle hat is the finishing touch — practical headgear that's done time in more than a few scraps.

The four-angle render shows clean, sharp detailing throughout — the riveted armour reads beautifully at scale, the halberd shaft has a convincing taper, and the flowing back of the tabard gives real depth. This variation (01) presents the watchman in a composed, planted pose — authoritative rather than aggressive, which makes him equally useful as a static gate guard, a checkpoint enforcer, or an NPC the party needs to bribe, bluff, or befriend.

Suited to adventurers who want to:

• Populate city gates, guardhouses, and urban encounters with grounded, characterful NPCs
• Build out a watch patrol for Waterdeep, Ravnica, or any homebrew settlement
• Use a varied set — check out other numbered Watchman Halberdier variants for different poses
• Add a well-armoured human fighter or paladin NPC to a campaign's recurring cast
• Display a finely detailed medieval soldier mini on a painting or hobby shelf

Encounter Hook: The party arrives at the northern gate of Arrenmouth after curfew. This watchman blocks the archway, halberd levelled horizontally across the passage, expression suggesting he has heard every excuse in the book and believes none of them. The Captain is off-duty. The sergeant is drunk. It's just him, the rain, and whatever story the party has prepared.
