Description
The gate had been quiet all night — until the torchlight caught the silhouette on the wall, bowstring taut, arrow trained on something moving in the shadows below.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
This is the second sculpt in Novaminis' Watchman Archer range, and where the first variation presents a more composed stance, this one catches the archer mid-draw — feet planted wide, full bodyweight committed behind the pull, the longbow bent to its limit. It's a pose that reads instantly across the table: this guard is not warning you. He is already shooting.
The detail work is sharp throughout. Studded leather armour covers the torso with individual rivets clearly defined across the chest and waist. A broad-brimmed kettle hat sits low over the face, giving the figure that gruff, no-nonsense look common to city watch militia. A short sword hangs at the hip for when the quiver runs dry, and a cylindrical arrow case rides across the back — practical, lived-in kit that speaks to a professional soldier rather than a conscripted militia man.
As a 32mm miniature it works well as a rank-and-file city guard or a named NPC — a veteran bowman who's spent twenty years on the walls and has very little patience left for adventurers who think they can bluff their way through the gate. For painters, the combination of leather textures, metal studs, and the taut bowstring offers a satisfying range of materials to work across.
Brilliant for adventurers who want to:
- Populate city walls, gatehouse encounters, and urban ambush scenarios
- Run a Watch captain or veteran archer NPC with presence at the table
- Build out a guard patrol alongside other watchman sculpts in the range
- Paint a technically detailed human soldier as a focused hobby project
- Add a well-armed civilian authority figure to a display diorama
Encounter Hook: The party is attempting to smuggle a wanted fugitive out of the city before dawn. They've bribed two of the three gate guards — but the third, a grizzled archer named Brennan who's never taken a coin in thirty years of service, is already on the wall above them, arrow nocked, watching. What do they do?
