Watchman 05 is a weathered, no-nonsense city guard rendered with the kind of lived-in detail that makes an NPC feel like a real person. He stands in a watchful, authoritative pose — crossbow held across his body, one gauntleted hand raised as if stopping someone in their tracks. His studded leather armour is practical and well-worn, complemented by a broad-brimmed kettle hat and a heavy travelling cloak that falls to the back of his boots. The crossbow itself is chunky and well-crafted, with visible bolts in a side quiver at his belt. His expression is direct — the look of a man who has heard every excuse and believes none of them.

This is the fifth variation in Novaminis' Watchman series, and where earlier watchmen may carry spears or stand at ease, this sculpt carries a real sense of active authority — the raised hand in particular gives him a dynamic, interactive quality on the tabletop. He works equally well as a street-level guard your party must negotiate past, a veteran city watchman with his own subplot, or a reliable ally with a suspicious streak. The sculpt's detail depth — from the stitching on his breeches to the rivets on his armour — makes him a rewarding mini to paint and a convincing presence on the display shelf.

Particularly well suited to adventurers who:

• Need a convincing watchman or town guard for city-based D&D sessions
• Are running urban intrigue campaigns set in places like Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate, or homebrew city states
• Want a ranged NPC guard with genuine character and presence
• Are building out a town watch patrol group alongside other Watchman variants
• Enjoy painting character-rich sculpts with expressive poses and fine surface detail

Encounter Hook: The party rounds a corner in the merchant district to find this watchman standing in the middle of the road, crossbow across his chest, one hand raised — he's not drawing on them, not yet, but he's not moving either. "I've had a report," he says, "that someone matching your description was seen near the Silversmith's Guild an hour before it burned down." Whatever the party's alibi, he's heard better ones.
