Equal parts unnerving and magnificent, the Void Shaman Dance sculpt by Epic Miniatures captures a moment of frenzied ritual in extraordinary detail. The figure is caught mid-motion — one clawed foot raised, body twisting in a wild shamanic dance — with a staff crowned by a wrinkled, unmistakable brain held aloft in one gauntleted fist. The other arm reaches outward, mechanical augmentations running the length of it, suggesting a creature that has blurred the line between flesh and something altogether stranger.
The torso is thick with fur and matted hair, adorned with a necklace of small skulls that rattle as the shaman moves. A belt of bolted straps crosses the chest, and around the lower body, tentacles wind and curl — a mark of something otherworldly, some pact or corruption that has bled through from beyond. The expression on the face is wide-eyed and leering, somewhere between ecstasy and madness. This is not a creature performing a ritual. This is a creature consumed by one.
Whether you play this as a Mind Flayer cultist, a corrupted shaman touched by Far Realm influence, or the eccentric BBEG pulling strings from a forgotten sanctum, this sculpt has the presence to anchor any encounter. The level of surface detail — from the individual hairs of the fur to the suckers on each tentacle — rewards careful painting and makes for a compelling display piece even off the table.
Suits adventurers who want to:
- Introduce a memorable Far Realm or aberrant-touched shaman into their campaign
- Field a twisted ritual leader for a Mind Flayer or aberration warband
- Create a standout BBEG or recurring villain with genuine presence at the table
- Take on a detailed, characterful painting project with strong sculptural form
Encounter Hook: The party descends into the lower tiers of an Underdark cult complex, following rumours of missing villagers. In a vaulted chamber lit by pulsing violet bioluminescence, they find the Void Shaman mid-dance — encircled by prone cultists, a brain held skyward, and the faint sound of something vast and wet breathing just beyond the walls. The shaman does not stop dancing when the adventurers enter. It simply smiles.
