This is a miniature that wears its lore on its body — literally. The Void Shaman is a squat, powerfully built beast-folk figure clad in layered fur and battered iron armour plates. A necklace of grinning skulls hangs across a broad, protruding belly, and the right hand grips a club fashioned from a tentacled limb — whether trophy or symbiotic appendage is left to your imagination. The segmented horns jutting from a mane-framed helm are cracked and angular, lending the figure a brutish, primordial authority. What truly sets this sculpt apart is the lower body: where legs should be, a thick coiling tentacle curls beneath him, suggesting a connection to something far beyond the material plane.
The rear of the figure is equally detailed — dense layers of fur rendered with individual feathering, a short curved blade tucked at the back, and the full sweep of that remarkable tentacle visible beneath the hem of a skull-bead belt. Every surface offers something new to discover when painting, from the pitted metal of the armour straps to the organic texture of the coiling limb.
This sculpt sits at a compelling crossroads of creature types — part great beast, part aberrant entity, part tribal spiritual leader — making him one of the most versatile and characterful miniatures in the Epic Miniatures catalogue.
A great choice for adventurers who:
- Need an otherworldly shaman, tribal elder, or void-touched cult leader for their campaign
- Are running encounters where aberrant influences have begun warping beast-folk tribes
- Want a distinctive, high-detail centrepiece enemy for a wilderness or Underdark session
- Paint display pieces and want a miniature packed with textural variety and visual storytelling
Encounter Hook: The party tracks a series of disappearances to a remote highland valley, where a once-peaceful yeti clan has fallen under the sway of the Void Shaman — a creature they call the Maw-Speaker. His skull necklace bears the faces of those who have already been taken. Tonight, he prepares another ritual beneath the aurora, and the party must decide: negotiate, disrupt, or fight their way through a clan of devoted and terrified followers to reach him.
