Not every encounter needs a monster. Some of the most memorable moments in a campaign come from the folk who line the streets — the merchant's clerk with information to sell, the alderman's assistant who knows where the bodies are buried, or the respectable townsman whose fine coat hides a rather more complicated life. Villager 04 Fine from Novaminis captures that archetype with specificity: a well-turned-out commoner who clearly puts thought into how he presents himself to the world.

Whether your party is navigating the fog-shrouded streets of a gothic city, passing through a prosperous market town, or arriving at a frontier settlement where appearances still matter, this miniature slots naturally into the scene. His finer dress suggests a step above the peasantry — a minor official, a prosperous tradesman, a village elder, or perhaps an informant who has learned that looking respectable is the best disguise of all.

For Dungeon Masters building out living, breathing settlements, a figure like this is invaluable. He reads immediately as someone with something to say — and possibly something to hide.

• Adventurers populating urban encounters with distinct, characterful NPCs
• Dungeon Masters running Ravenloft, intrigue, or social-heavy campaigns
• Painters who enjoy the quiet challenge of non-combat miniatures with real personality

Encounter Hook
The party arrives in the village of Greyveil just as the annual tithe collection is due. A well-dressed man approaches them at the inn — polite, measured, seemingly prosperous — and asks quietly whether they might be interested in a private commission. He says he represents certain local interests. He does not say which ones. His clothes are impeccably pressed. His hands are completely still. He smiles and waits.
