This diorama-style scene captures a moment of quiet intrigue at the heart of any fantasy settlement. One woman crouches atop the well's stone rim, leaning forward in animated conversation — her ornate capelet and knowing smile suggesting she's no ordinary gossip. Across from her, a second woman perches on the well's edge, one leg dangling, a flower in her hair, fingers raised as if weighing the truth of what she's just heard. Between them sits a wooden bucket, rope coiled at its side, and a second bucket lies toppled nearby — the water long forgotten in favour of far more interesting matters. The stonework of the well itself is beautifully textured, with individual blocks carved in convincing relief.
As a centrepiece for a village square encounter or a display piece on your hobby shelf, this scene carries genuine narrative weight. It's the kind of miniature that makes your players slow down and ask questions — which is often exactly where the best sessions begin.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Want richly characterful NPCs to anchor their village or town encounters
- Are building a settlement map and need compelling set-dressing with story built in
- Run intrigue-heavy campaigns where information brokers come in unexpected forms
- Collect display-quality fantasy miniatures from independent sculptors
- Love diorama-style pieces that tell a story before a single die is rolled
Encounter Hook:
When the party arrives in Millhaven asking after the missing cartwright, the innkeeper points them toward the well — "the two women there know everything that happens in this village." Sure enough, both women clam up the moment the adventurers approach, eyes sliding sideways toward the alderman's house. Whatever they saw three nights ago, someone has already warned them to keep quiet about it.
This miniature is scaled to 35mm. If you'd prefer 32mm scaling, send us a message and we'll do our best to accommodate. The scene includes the stone well, both figures, and scattered props (buckets, rope). A decorative base option is available — if selected, please include a note specifying which of the three base styles you'd like. Bases arrive separate and can be attached with a small amount of glue. The miniature arrives unpainted and ready for priming, though it looks characterful straight from the box for use in play.
