Every vampire needs a resting place, and this coffin is no ordinary pine box. Sculpted by Atlanticus Arts with an obsessive eye for gothic detail, the casket features deeply carved scrollwork panels along the base, iron bracket fittings across the lid, and four brooding gargoyle figures crouched at the corners — the sort of guardians that suggest whoever commissioned this coffin did not want to be disturbed between dusks. The interior holds a reclining figure draped in period robes, hands folded across the chest, head resting on a raised pillow — peaceful, or at least performing peacefulness convincingly.

The two-piece design presents the coffin open, with the lid displayed separately behind it. This makes it equally effective as a scatter terrain centrepiece mid-encounter or as a display diorama piece on a painting shelf. Whether the players are arriving to confirm a kill or finding the coffin disturbingly empty, this piece sets the atmosphere before a single die is rolled.

Painted in deep mahogany with tarnished brass fittings, the carved acanthus scrollwork on the base and the heavy fleur-de-lis motifs on the exterior panels would reward careful drybrushing and a dark wash. The gargoyle corner pieces offer a genuine painting project in themselves.

  • Dungeon Masters staging a vampire lair reveal in a Ravenloft or gothic horror campaign
  • Painters wanting a characterful centrepiece to anchor a diorama or crypt display
  • Groups running investigation encounters where the coffin is the clue
  • Collectors building out gothic undead terrain sets for atmosphere-heavy sessions

Encounter Hook: The party follows the trail of missing villagers to a collapsed mausoleum on the edge of the Barovia wood. Inside, three coffins — two sealed, one thrown open and empty. The reclining figure they expected to find inside is gone, but the scorch marks around the lid suggest it didn't leave quietly. Somewhere above them, shutters bang in the wind.
