Description

The lantern still swings from his bony fist, its pale light cutting through the sea-mist, and somewhere behind those hollow sockets a dead man's grin promises that whatever cursed shanty he's singing, it's not one the living were meant to hear.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

Meet Atworth — known to terrified dockhands as 'the Undead Shanty' — a skeletal pirate who strides forward with the confidence of someone who has already died once and found it largely inconvenient. He carries a tattered signal flag high over one shoulder, its cloth ragged and salt-worn, while his other hand swings a battered maritime lantern. Hollow eye sockets peer from beneath a worn bandana, and that wide, unhinged jaw looks permanently mid-chorus. There's a dark charisma to him — less shambling corpse, more undead boatswain who simply refused to stop sailing.

This is pose 5 of the Undead Horde Pirate range by Great Grimoire, and the flag-and-lantern combination sets Atworth apart from the rest of the crew — he reads as a herald, a signal-caller, or perhaps the last crewman of a ghost ship still doing his rounds. He works equally well as a battlefield miniature and as a display piece, and the three themed coastal bases available (beach scene, anchor scene, or skull scatter) complement his maritime character beautifully.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Need a named undead pirate NPC with real visual presence at the table
  • Are running a ghost ship, cursed fleet, or coastal undead encounter
  • Want a characterful enemy or rival for a nautical campaign arc
  • Collect undead miniatures for display or diorama purposes
  • Are building an undead crew and need a standard-bearer type to lead the charge

Encounter Hook:
The party's ship runs aground on a sandbar in heavy fog, and as the mist thins they spot a lantern swaying ahead on the beach — held aloft by a skeletal figure in a rotting coat, waving a tattered flag in slow, deliberate arcs. When they row ashore to investigate, Atworth the Undead Shanty turns to face them with that endless grin and begins to sing — and somewhere out in the dark water, something very large begins to move towards the sound.
