Part turkey, part raptor, entirely threatening — the Turkey Raptor is one of those creatures that makes players genuinely unsure whether to laugh or run. With its broad fan of oversized, blade-shaped feathers splayed behind it like a war display, scaled taloned feet gripping the ground, and a beaked head thrown back in challenge, this sculpt captures the absurd menace of a creature that has absolutely earned its reputation as a regional nightmare.
The feather fan is the centrepiece of the sculpt — each individual feather is cleanly defined, layered, and slightly angular, suggesting something between natural plumage and sharpened quills. The body is covered in overlapping scaled texture, the wattle and snood of the turkey anatomy are rendered with gratifying grotesqueness, and the reverse heel spur on each taloned foot adds an extra threat that rings very true to raptors of the real world. Both the front and rear views of the sculpt hold up — this is a miniature that looks purposeful from every angle on the table.
Mounted on a 51mm large base, the Turkey Raptor sits comfortably as a Large creature in any D&D or Pathfinder encounter — or as a Huge-feeling presence when you want something just a little bit extra for your wilderness encounters.
A gift for Dungeon Masters who want their random encounter tables to include something the party genuinely wasn't expecting.
This miniature suits adventurers who:
- Run wilderness, farmland, or frontier encounters and want something fresh and memorable
- Enjoy fielding creatures that blend comedy with genuine threat
- Want a Large creature miniature with real visual presence on the table
- Are building out a bestiary of unusual and flavourful monsters
- Love a sculpt that rewards careful painting — especially on layered feather textures
Encounter Hook: The party's been hired to investigate a string of livestock disappearances near a rural hamlet. The trail leads to a harvested cornfield at dusk — where, between the stalks, something massive turns to face them, fans its blade-feathered tail wide, and lets out a sound that is deeply, disturbingly similar to a gobble.
