Description

The chains were meant to hold it — forged thick, looped twice around its waist — but the wardens know better than to meet its eyes when they slide the feed-tray through the bars.

  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

This is the second sculpt in Novaminis' Troll Prisoner series, and where Prisoner 01 radiates brute defiance, Prisoner 02 is something more unsettling — coiled rather than raging. The troll crouches low, thick claws splayed, its heavily muscled torso bare and scarred beneath a crude hide loincloth laced with rough stitching. Shackles bite at its ankles, a heavy chain trailing from one leg, and its wrists are bound at the waist — yet the pose communicates that these restraints are a temporary inconvenience at best.

The head is where the real character lives. Lank, stringy hair falls across a broad, deeply lined face framed by prominent ear-tips and a short, forward-jutting brow. The expression is somewhere between submission and calculation — head angled down, eyes half-lidded — the look of a creature that has learned patience only because it is waiting for the right moment. Leather wrappings cover the lower legs and forearms, lending a feral, tribal quality that contrasts sharply with the iron chain work. The sculpt's detail — visible across every angle of the multi-render — is characteristically tight from Novaminis, with skin folds, claw texture, and chain links all reading cleanly at gaming scale.

This variation pairs naturally with Troll Prisoner 01 for a matched encounter group, or works equally well as a standalone centrepiece for a dungeon holding cell, underground slavers' den, or the grim trophy room of a particularly unwise warlord who thought a captive troll was a good idea.

This sculpt suits adventurers who enjoy:

  • Building morally complex encounter scenes — a prisoner who may be threat, victim, or ally depending on the session
  • Painting large humanoid figures with interesting skin texture and muscular anatomy
  • Running dungeon crawls, underdark expeditions, or underground faction campaigns
  • Display collectors who want monsters with genuine character and narrative weight

Encounter Hook: The party is hired to retrieve a stolen merchant's ledger from a goblin-run smuggling den beneath the city docks. They find the ledger — and something else the goblins have been feeding scraps to in a reinforced pit: a chained troll, thin and furious, its ankle-chain bolted to a stone pillar. The goblins flee. The troll looks at the party. The party looks at the troll. It tilts its head. Someone is going to have to make a decision.
