Tree Stump 02 by Novaminis
Description
Something is wrong with the trees — the roots have curled like fingers, and the bark splits in patterns that look almost like scales.
- ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
- ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
- ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama
This is variation 01 of the Tree Stump range by Novaminis, and it includes two distinct sculpts: a broad, flat-topped stump with splayed claw-like roots spreading wide across the ground, and a taller, hollow-topped stump with jagged, torn bark at the rim. Both carry the same deeply unsettling character — the grain of the bark is deeply textured with cracking fissures and raised ridges, while the root structures fan out in grasping, talon-like forms that suggest something between ancient woodland and something that hunts. These are not ordinary stumps. Whatever felled these trees may not have used an axe.
Whether you're dressing a druid's corrupted grove, the outskirts of a blighted forest, or a hex-crawl encounter site, these stumps carry visual weight well beyond standard scatter terrain. Equally at home in a painted diorama or raw on the tabletop, they suit DMs and collectors alike.
Well-suited to adventurers who:
- Build atmospheric wilderness or corrupted forest battle maps
- Want scatter terrain that reads as distinctly strange or fey-touched
- Are painting dioramas or nature-themed display bases
- Need cover objects with genuine visual character at the table
- Collect fantasy terrain for display alongside their miniature range
Encounter Hook:
The ranger leading your party stops abruptly — the clearing ahead is ringed by a dozen stumps, each with the same clawed roots, each positioned as though they turned to face the path. The druid rolls Arcana. She doesn't share the result. She just tells everyone to step carefully and not touch anything.
This set is scaled to 32mm and includes two stump sculpts. A plain black base option is available and comes unattached — a small amount of glue is all that's needed to fix it in place. Both pieces arrive ready for priming and painting, or can be used straight from the box for a natural resin look. As with all hand-finished pieces, minor surface marks are possible; these are easily tidied up before painting.
