Description

The ancient pines of the Whisperwood have stood since before the kingdom had a name — and something moves between them tonight.

  • ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This large-scale pine tree terrain piece from Epic Miniatures is the kind of scatter that quietly transforms a wilderness encounter from a flat grid exercise into a scene with genuine atmosphere. The sculpt captures a tall, tapering conifer with deeply layered boughs sweeping outward in broad, overlapping tiers — each branch edge feathered with individual leaf fronds that catch paint beautifully at multiple depth levels. The trunk rises from a broad, gnarled root base with flowing bark texture, lending the whole piece a sense of age and weight.

Available in two sizes (the render shows both large and standard variants side by side with a d6 for scale reference), this listing covers the large version — a genuinely imposing piece that towers over 32mm figures and provides meaningful line-of-sight blocking for tactical play. Whether deployed as natural cover during an ambush, as the centrepiece of a druidic glade, or clustered together to form a dense woodland approach, it reads clearly as a real tree at the gaming table.

Unpainted resin takes to a simple zenithal prime and a few washes of green and brown with ease — or go full painterly with lichen, snow effects, or autumn hues for seasonal variety. The sculpt rewards every level of painter from speed-paint drybrush runs to competition-standard display work.

Adventurers who'll make the most of this piece:

  • Dungeon Masters building out forest, mountain, or wilderness encounter boards
  • Rangers, druids, and nature-aligned parties who deserve proper scenery
  • Painters wanting a large organic subject to experiment with bark and foliage techniques
  • Collectors assembling diorama scenes or wilderness display boards
  • Any DM who has ever gestured vaguely at a flat map and said "there are trees here"

Encounter Hook: The party is tracking a wounded owlbear through the Ashfen Pines when the trail goes cold. The trees here are older and closer together, and someone has carved unfamiliar symbols into the bark at eye level. The druid recognises them as boundary markers — but the territory they mark belongs to nothing they've met before. Something exhales slowly in the dark between the trunks, and it is very large.

Details

This listing is for the large pine tree terrain piece. Designed at a scale compatible with 28mm–32mm miniatures. Supplied unpainted and unprimed. The size comparison image shows both a large and a standard variant alongside a standard d6 — the large piece stands significantly taller than a standard 32mm figure. No base included; the root cluster provides natural stability on flat surfaces.
