Few creatures in the dungeon-master's arsenal inspire paranoia quite like the mimic. This sculpt by La Louve 3D leans into that delicious dread with a chest-form mimic mid-reveal: its wooden flanks have split open to expose a grotesque, tooth-lined maw, a single cyclopean eye peering from the top, and long grasping arms reaching out from either side. Warty, textured flesh bulges between the splintered planks, and clawed feet anchor the thing to the dungeon floor — this is no passive prop, it's a creature mid-lunge. Included alongside the mimic is a second piece: a convincingly ordinary locked treasure chest, complete with keyhole and banded wood detail, for use as scatter terrain or the mimic's pre-reveal stand-in.

Together, the two pieces give you everything you need for a proper mimic encounter — set the innocent chest on the table first, swap it out for the revealed beast the moment the party reaches for the lid, and watch the panic unfold. Both pieces work equally well as display pieces for collectors who appreciate the storytelling built into a well-sculpted miniature.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Run dungeon-crawl campaigns and want encounters with genuine table-presence
  • Love classic D&D 5e monsters and want a characterful sculpt to match
  • Enjoy the two-stage reveal — innocent chest first, chaos second
  • Collect display miniatures that tell a story without a word of explanation
  • Are painting a dungeon-horror or classic fantasy miniature collection

Encounter Hook:
The party has been searching the flooded lower vaults for twenty minutes when the rogue spots it — a chest, dry and untouched on a raised stone plinth, its brass lock glinting in torchlight. The ranger's instincts fire too late. The moment the first hand touches the lid, the planks split wide, a single eye rolls towards them, and those arms are already reaching.

Details

This listing includes both the mimic miniature and the closed treasure chest scatter piece, scaled to 32mm. The model and base (if a base option is selected) are supplied as separate pieces and can be attached with a small amount of glue. Supplied unprimed and unpainted, ready for your brushwork or grey-resin display as-is. As with all hand-finished prints, minor surface marks may occasionally be present — these are easily tidied up before priming.
