Torsus the River God by Witchsong Miniatures
Description
The river has not flooded in three seasons — not because the rains have failed, but because something vast and armoured has claimed the source, and the water moves only at its pleasure.
- ✔ Display-scale miniature — larger than standard 32mm gaming scale
- ✔ Resin printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Equally suited to display shelves and the gaming table
Torsus the River God is no mere brute. Clad in riveted plate armour that has been beaten, patched, and bolted together across decades of conquest, this colossal tortle warlord carries the weight of a tyrant in every element of his sculpt. His jaws are wide open mid-roar, one massive clawed hand hoisting a broad, rune-carved stone axe aloft — the kind of weapon that doesn't cut enemies so much as erase them. Bony spines ridge his shell, scraps of fur and hide hang from his belt, and his base is littered with the debris of something he's already crushed underfoot. This is a character who has been ruling his territory for a very long time, and he fully intends to continue.
For Dungeon Masters, Torsus offers a versatile anchor for a campaign arc. He reads equally convincingly as a nature deity gone wrathful, a warlord-king demanding tribute from river settlements, or the corrupted guardian of a sacred waterway twisted by dark influence. Display collectors will find the level of surface detail — the panel lines on the armour, the texture of the shell, the expressive snarl — deeply rewarding to paint at this scale.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Need a commanding BBEG with genuine physical presence on the table
- Are running a riverlands, coastal, or swamp-themed campaign arc
- Want a centrepiece display mini that rewards careful layered painting
- Are building a tortle-themed warband, faction, or encounter set
Encounter Hook:
The party is hired to investigate why three villages along the River Varath have stopped sending grain shipments. Following the river upstream, they find each settlement abandoned — doors left open, meals half-eaten, livestock gone. At the headwaters, seated on a throne of sunken boats and bent iron, Torsus waits. He has not attacked anyone. He simply declared the river his, and expected the world to rearrange itself accordingly. He is, the party will quickly realise, entirely serious.
Torsus is a large-scale model — the base measures 80mm, making him a true boss-scale centrepiece rather than a standard 32mm figure. The base is supplied detached and can be fixed with a small amount of hobby glue. As with all our models, he arrives ready for priming and painting, or can be used straight from the box for gaming. If you'd like a different scale, get in touch and we'll see what we can do.
