The Tome Mimic is one of those encounters that lives in a party's memory long after the session ends. This sculpt captures two distinct forms of that deception: a monstrous, armoured maw bursting from a cobblestone base — jaw stretched wide, rows of jagged teeth bared — and a second piece depicting a gnarled, root-bound antler structure with a serpentine tendril coiled through its centre, perfect for representing the creature mid-transformation or used as dungeon scatter terrain in its own right. Both are rendered in crisp, unpainted resin, ready for priming and painting.

Mimics work best as moments of drama — and this one gives you the sculptural detail to make that moment land. The open-jawed piece sits low to the ground on a flagstone base, as though something has erupted from the floor mid-lunge. The antlered tendril piece stands tall and unnerving, suited equally to cursed libraries, druid groves turned wrong, or the shadowy back shelves of a lich's study.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Run dungeon encounters that subvert player expectations
  • Want versatile scatter terrain that doubles as a boss reveal
  • Are building a library, study, or cursed archive encounter space
  • Enjoy painting character pieces with unusual textures — teeth, bark, coiling tendrils
  • Collect distinctive monster miniatures for display alongside gaming use

Encounter Hook:
The party has been sent to retrieve a specific volume from the Archivist's sealed reading room. The room contains exactly seventeen books. Sixteen are mundane. One has not moved in forty years — because it has been choosing not to. The moment the cleric casts Detect Magic, every book in the room turns its spine to face her.

What's included:
Two separate sculpts are shown — the open-jawed mimic head on a cobblestone base, and the antlered tendril piece on a root base. Both are printed at 32mm scale. The based piece prints as a single unit; the plain base variant can be detached and reattached with a small amount of adhesive. Pieces arrive with supports removed; minor marks from the printing process may occasionally be present and are easily tidied up before painting.
