Mimics are among the most unsettling creatures a Dungeon Master can deploy, not because they are the most powerful, but because they make adventurers distrust the world around them. The Tombstone Mimic takes that paranoia to its most delicious extreme — a cracked, moss-worn grave marker bearing the inscription R.I.P. and an ornate carved cross, erupting upward from its burial mound to reveal a gaping maw lined with jagged, overlapping fangs and a thick, lolling tongue. The sculpt captures that split second of horrifying revelation: what looked like scenery is very much alive, and it is very much hungry.

This is not dungeon dressing — it is a trap set in plain sight. The textured earthen base, disturbed soil, and the creature's half-emerged body give it the look of something that has been waiting patiently beneath the surface for exactly the right moment. Equally at home on a Ravenloft cemetery tile, a gothic horror encounter map, or a shelf between your favourite horror-themed pieces.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Run gothic horror or Ravenloft-themed campaigns
  • Want to keep their players second-guessing every piece of scenery
  • Are building a graveyard encounter or haunted location
  • Collect characterful monster minis for display alongside their painted warbands

Encounter Hook:
The party has been sent to retrieve a name from a headstone in the village cemetery — the burial site of a long-dead noble whose will determines who inherits the estate. Three graves have the right family name. Two are ordinary stone. The third has not moved in a hundred years, but tonight, as the rogue leans in to read the inscription by torchlight, the ground shifts. The R.I.P. turns to face them.
