The Tomb Tapper is one of those creatures that makes players go very quiet when you place it on the table. Tall, gaunt, and eerily elongated, its body tapers upward into a smooth, featureless cowl of flesh — all expression replaced by the enormous toothed mouth set deep into its torso, ringed with jagged, uneven teeth and fleshy lips pulled back in a permanent, hungry grin. Its long arms hang low, one clawed hand open and reaching, the other gripping a brutal stacked-stone maul — a weapon that looks like it was assembled from dungeon rubble rather than forged. Every surface of its pale, veined form speaks to something that evolved underground, in silence and darkness, long before the first adventurers came stumbling in.

This is a sculpt that earns its place both on the gaming table and on a display shelf. The anatomical detail — the defined musculature beneath taut skin, the layered folds of the cranial cowl, the grotesque detail of the chest-mouth — rewards a painter who wants something genuinely unusual to work with. Three rendered angles are available, showing the full silhouette from the front and side, and every angle is just as unsettling as the last.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Need a visceral, unusual boss monster that will genuinely unsettle their players
  • Are building aberration-heavy encounters in the Underdark or forgotten ruins
  • Want a centrepiece creature that doubles as a display-worthy collector's piece
  • Enjoy painting highly detailed, organic sculpts with dramatic focal points

Encounter Hook:
The party has been tracking the source of the rhythmic thumping that echoes through the lower vaults — a regular, patient beat, like something enormous and unhurried pacing back and forth. When they finally push open the iron door, they find a chamber scattered with the flattened remains of the previous expedition, and a seven-foot figure at the far end dragging a stone maul in slow arcs across the flagstones, its chest-mouth open wide, tasting the air. It stops. It turns — though it has no head to turn with — and begins to walk towards them.
