This tiefling villager has clearly had a long night. Clutching a tankard in one hand and jabbing a finger at some unseen grievance with the other, he stands wide-legged and swaying — the universal stance of a man with opinions and no filter left to keep them in. His rope-trimmed jacket hangs slightly askew, his braided horns are admirably intact given the circumstances, and his expression lands somewhere between jovial and confrontational. It's a sculpt that captures a very specific energy: the moment just before someone either buys another round or starts a bar fight.
For a tiefling, he's dressed decidedly down-to-earth — working-class tavern attire rather than infernal regalia, which makes him all the more versatile. He could be a regular at any alehouse in the city, a recurring face in the adventurers' local, or an informant who only talks when sufficiently lubricated. The tankard is his symbol of office, and he wears it with dignity.
Whether painted up in warm, flushed tavern tones or given a more fantastical palette to emphasise his infernal heritage, this miniature rewards the brush. He's a joy to paint precisely because he's so grounded — a character you could plausibly meet rather than a monster you'd have to fight.
This miniature works brilliantly for adventurers who:
- Need a distinctive tiefling NPC for city or tavern encounters
- Want to add personality and chaos to a busy tavern scene
- Are building out an urban or planar settlement with diverse inhabitants
- Love painting character minis with expressive faces and storytelling poses
- Play campaigns where the local watering hole is as dangerous as any dungeon
Encounter Hook
The party has barely settled into their booth at the Crooked Lantern when a broad, horn-headed figure lurches over, tankard sloshing, and slaps a hand on the table. He claims to have overheard them asking about the missing merchant — and he knows something. Whether he's a genuine witness, a planted distraction, or simply a drunk who wandered into the wrong plot thread is entirely up to you.
