The Lamplighter is one of those creatures that defies easy categorisation — and that is precisely what makes it so compelling at the table. This hulking, multi-limbed horror moves on bestial haunches, its bloated body wrapped in heavy chains and tattered flesh-like draping. Each of its four long arms clutches a different ornate lantern: gothic cage-style lamps, filigreed hanging orbs, spike-trimmed braziers — no two alike, as if collected across centuries of wandering darkened streets and forgotten planes. A wide, toothy grin splits the mass where a face should be, ringed by clusters of small dark eyes that catch the light in deeply unsettling ways.
Whether you run it as a Fiend drawn from the lower planes, a peculiar Aberration lurking in the Underdark, or a unique boss creature haunting a cursed city district, the Lamplighter has the presence to anchor an entire encounter.
