Description

It came whiffling through the tulgey wood, and burbled as it came — all razored fangs, leathery wings, and the absolute certainty that whatever stood before it would not stand for long.

The Jabberwock is one of the great beasts of literary folklore given fearsome physical form — and DM Stash's interpretation does the legend full justice. This is a creature that fills a tabletop with presence: massive, multipart, and bristling with detail from the scaled membrane of its broad wings to the layered feathers erupting from its chest and haunches. Its maw hangs open, lined with long irregular fangs and a second set of reaching claws at the throat, suggesting something between a dragon and a nightmare that evolution forgot to finish. Antler-like protrusions crown its head and frame its face, giving it an almost regal grotesqueness.

The pose conveys momentum — the Jabberwock rears back slightly, wings half-extended, as though it has just descended into a clearing and is deciding which member of the party looks most like a light snack. Beneath those taloned feet, a sculpted scenic base of churned earth, crystalline shards, and gnarled undergrowth roots it firmly in its domain. Every surface rewards a careful brush: the leathery wing membranes show fine vein texture, the body scales shift between feathers and hide, and the base offers genuine depth for washes and dry-brushing alike.

This is a miniature that works equally as a high-CR encounter piece on the gaming table and as a centrepiece painting project on the display shelf — the kind of sculpt that earns a permanent spot in any collection.

Adventurers who'll want this miniature:

  • Dungeon Masters running a fairytale-inspired campaign or dark woodland arc
  • Painters looking for a complex, rewarding creature with layered textures throughout
  • Collectors who want a dramatic, large-footprint beast for a display shelf
  • Anyone adapting Lewis Carroll's Wonderland into a D&D or Pathfinder setting

Encounter Hook

The party follows a trail of cleaved trees and scattered feathers into a moonlit clearing — at its centre, three knights in shredded armour lie still. Before they can retreat, something vast drops from the canopy overhead, shaking the ground on impact. The Jabberwock swings its head toward them and exhales — a low, rattling burble that carries no language and every threat.
