Mantharak, the Forlorn Monstrosity, is a creature that defies easy categorisation — and that's precisely what makes it such a powerful presence at the table. Part stag, part wolf, part something that should not exist, this towering abomination rears up on powerful haunches with a cluster of skeletal spider-like limbs erupting from its flanks, curved talons splayed wide. Its antlered skull-like head screams silently toward the sky whilst a second half-formed visage twists from its shoulder, all teeth and hollow eyes. Exposed ribs jut through matted fur, and tendon-like striations pulse across every limb, suggesting a body perpetually tearing itself apart and reknitting in something worse.

On the tabletop, Mantharak occupies that rare space between aberration and monstrosity — a creature that raises immediate questions. What cursed the forest that spawned it? What god, archfey, or ancient ritual is responsible? The sculpt is dense with narrative texture: the grotesque secondary head, the arachnid bone-limbs, and the raised humanoid claw reaching skyward all give Dungeon Masters rich visual hooks to build an encounter around. Equally at home as a corrupted nature spirit, a failed druidic ritual made flesh, or a wendigo-adjacent apex predator, Mantharak demands a full session's worth of dread before the party ever rolls initiative. As a display piece, the sheer sculptural ambition here — the layered anatomy, the asymmetric horror, the rock terrain base — makes it a genuine centrepiece for any collection shelf.

A fine choice for adventurers who:

  • Need a memorable boss monster that unsettles the party before the fight even begins
  • Are building a corrupted woodland, cursed hunting ground, or Feywild-adjacent arc
  • Want a large-scale display piece with exceptional sculptural detail
  • Are running a horror-adjacent or dark fantasy campaign where aberrant nature threats fit the tone

Encounter Hook:
The rangers' guild contracted the party to investigate a silent stretch of the Ashwood — three hunting parties have vanished in a fortnight. When the adventurers arrive, they find the remains arranged in a rough circle around a clearing of churned earth, each body stripped clean and the bones carefully stacked. At the centre, a single enormous cloven hoofprint, deep enough to hold rainwater. Something has been here recently. Something is still watching.

Mantharak is printed at 32mm scale. The model and scenic rock terrain base are supplied as separate pieces and can be joined with superglue — the sculpt is designed to interact with the base, so we'd recommend attaching it for the full effect. The piece arrives ready to prime and paint, though it displays well straight from the box.
