The Faces King is one of those sculpts that demands a second look — and then a third. At first glance, he reads as an armoured giant striding through a battlefield, one gauntleted hand raised and clenched around a boulder-like stone, a great sword slung across his back. But look closer, and the details become deeply unsettling: the faces of defeated warriors press through his flesh, their expressions frozen in the moment of their end. A crown sits atop his mass of wild hair, asserting a sovereignty built not on lineage but on conquest and consumption.
The sculpt is layered with storytelling. His tattered robes billow beneath heavy armour greaves, and the ruined base beneath his feet — cracked stone, scattered helms and debris — speaks to a long trail of ruined kingdoms. He is not a brute. He carries himself with the measured weight of something ancient and deliberate, a ruler who has outlasted every challenger by simply absorbing them. Witchsong Miniatures have packed this figure with extraordinary surface detail: the texture of those embedded faces, the weathered engraving on his armour, and the sculptural complexity of his silhouette make this a rewarding project for experienced painters and a show-stopping presence on any gaming table.
As a multipart miniature with a decorative scenic base included, the Faces King assembles into a cohesive centrepiece — a boss encounter figure that will make your players pause before they roll initiative.
Particularly well suited to adventurers who:
- Need a commanding BBEG for a highland, mountain, or war-torn campaign arc
- Want a large-scale boss miniature that rewards detailed painting and close inspection
- Are running encounters that involve ancient conquests, fallen kingdoms, or cursed royalty
- Collect showcase pieces from independent sculptors pushing the boundaries of tabletop miniature design
Encounter Hook: The party follows rumours of a warlord who cannot be slain — because every king who has faced him has simply… disappeared. When they finally track him to the ruins of the last court he shattered, they realise the rumours were incomplete. The warlord wasn't undefeatable. He simply kept his enemies closer than most would dare.
