Description

He was a king once — but death did not empty him. Now he is filled with every soul he ever consumed, their faces pressing outward from his flesh like a chorus of the damned, silent and endless.

  • ✔ Large-scale display bust — significantly bigger than standard 32mm
  • ✔ Resin printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — ideal as a centrepiece painting project
  • ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions

The Faces King is a deeply unsettling piece of sculptural work. His head is crowned with a broken, fortress-like iron crown — its battlements crumbling, its authority long since rotted. Beneath it, a gaunt, bearded face stares outward with hollowed contempt, the expression of a ruler who sees no power worth acknowledging. But it is the body of the bust that commands the eye: dozens of human and inhuman faces are pressed into the surface of his form, mouths open, eyes wide or closed, some peaceful in their anguish and some decidedly not. Every face is distinct — warriors, nobles, commoners, creatures — each one absorbed into the king's mass and held there, trapped in perpetual silence.

This is a bust designed to reward the painter who slows down. The texture is extraordinarily varied: tight clusters of faces give way to writhing limbs, open mouths, and brow-knitted grimaces, all at different depths within the sculpt. Layered washes and selective highlighting will bring this chaos to life — imagine pale ashen flesh for the host faces, warmed by deep purples and cold blues in the recesses, with the crown picked out in verdigris-touched iron. The multipart construction allows for careful priming of each section before assembly, giving access to the deepest recesses.

As a display centrepiece, the Faces King carries a narrative weight that few busts achieve. He is not simply a powerful undead — he is a statement about what power costs, what kingship consumes, and what remains when a ruler devours everything around him. Whether he lives on your painting shelf, anchors a Ravenloft campaign backdrop, or holds court above your D&D display cabinet, he demands attention.

Adventurers who will love this bust:

  • Painters looking for a technically challenging centrepiece project with exceptional surface variety
  • Dungeon Masters building the visual identity of an undead kingdom's dread sovereign
  • Collectors drawn to dark fantasy display pieces that carry genuine narrative weight
  • Anyone running gothic horror campaigns who wants an oppressive focal point for their shelf or table

Encounter Hook

The party reaches the Throne of Bone expecting a skeleton — and finds instead a mountainous, robed figure seated in silence. As they approach, they begin to hear whispers: dozens of voices, overlapping, each begging them to listen. A paladin recognises one voice as a companion thought lost two campaigns ago. The king has not yet moved. He does not need to. He already knows which of the party's souls he wants next.
