Temporary Palisade 02 by Novaminis

Hastily driven into the earth before the raiders arrived, the palisade stands as the last thin line between the village and whatever is coming through the treeline.

This is the second variation in Novaminis' Temporary Palisade range — a section of field fortification built from rough-hewn timber stakes, each one sharpened to a jagged point and lashed together with a horizontal crossbar at mid-height. The sculpt captures the uneven, improvised character of a real defensive barrier: the stakes vary in height and angle, the wood grain runs deep, and the whole structure has the convincing weight of something hammered into the ground in a hurry. It reads immediately as a piece of tactical terrain rather than a permanent installation — exactly the kind of barricade a beleaguered militia or a warband on the move might throw up before nightfall.
On the tabletop, this piece works hard. It functions as a line-of-sight blocker, a chokepoint, a cover object, or simply a piece of environmental storytelling that tells your players the people here were afraid of something. Pair it with the other palisade variations to extend your defensive line across a wider battle map, or use it as a standalone feature in a wilderness ambush or siege encounter.
Suited to adventurers who:
- Build encounter maps where terrain tells half the story
- Run wilderness, border fort, or settlement defence scenarios
- Want scatter terrain that doubles as a cover mechanic and a visual anchor
- Collect and paint detailed environmental pieces for dioramas or display
Encounter Hook:
The caravan has been circling its wagons for three days, and the palisade stakes were driven in on the first night. Now, as the party approaches the smouldering encampment, they can see that something has pushed through — two of the stakes are snapped clean at the base, and whatever came through left no tracks on the other side.
Scaled to 32mm to sit naturally alongside standard miniatures. Available with or without a plain black base — the base ships unattached and can be fixed with a small amount of glue. Supplied unpainted and ready to prime; the deep wood-grain texture takes drybrushing and washes particularly well. Some minor marks from the printing process are possible and can be cleaned up with a hobby knife.
