In D&D 5e, a Swarm of Bats is one of those delightfully chaotic battlefield hazards — cheap to deploy, disproportionately disruptive, and always good at making the rogue regret not bringing a light source. This sculpt from Yasashii Kyojin Studios captures that frenzied, churning mass of creatures mid-flight: a dense spiral column of individual bats twisting upward and outward, wings spread at every angle, claws extended, bodies overlapping in that wonderfully unsettling way only a genuine swarm can manage. The individual bats within the cluster are richly detailed — leathery wing membranes, outstretched taloned feet, and tiny snarling faces are all clearly sculpted throughout the piece.
Three distinct sculpt variations are available in this range, each presenting the swarm from a different angle and with a slightly different distribution of bats through the column — this listing is for Swarm of Bats 01, so adventurers building out a multi-swarm encounter or wanting visual variety across the table may want to browse the other poses too. Equally at home guarding a vampire's crypt, swarming from a disturbed cave ceiling, or serving as a summoned familiar, this is a miniature that earns its place in both active campaigns and display collections.
Perfect for adventurers who:- Run dungeon crawls, cave encounters, or gothic horror sessions and want a proper swarm token
- Need a tactile, atmospheric prop to replace a plain counter when a Swarm of Bats enters initiative
- Are building a vampire or necromancer's lair and want environmental detail that matches the threat
- Collect beast miniatures or paint creature studies for display
Encounter Hook:
The party has been tracking the missing archivist for two days when they finally locate his camp — overturned, ransacked, and completely dark. As the cleric raises a hand to cast Light, the paladin hears it first: a high, chittering shriek from somewhere deep in the fissure above the tent. Three rounds later, the sky is no longer visible.
