Description
Ancient and primordial, the swamp dragon has haunted the fetid waterways for millennia — its jagged crown of spines breaking the surface like dead wood before the jaws follow.
- ✔ Large-scale display bust — significantly bigger than standard 32mm
- ✔ Resin printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted — ideal as a centrepiece painting project
- ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions
This large-scale display bust captures the swamp dragon in extraordinary detail — a predator evolved for murk and shadow. The elongated skull tapers to a narrow, tooth-lined snout, jaws slightly parted and coiled with menace. Every scale is individually articulated, layering back from the muzzle across the neck in overlapping ridges that speak to centuries of hide thickening in the wild.
The crown is where this sculpt truly distinguishes itself. A dramatic spray of elongated, blade-like spines erupts from the back of the skull and neck — ragged and asymmetric, like shattered obsidian growing from living flesh. These spines catch light beautifully whether painted in deep swamp-water greens, mossy ochres, or the sickly iridescence of a poisonous creature. Washes and drybrushing will bring the layered texture to life with remarkable ease.
The bust sits on a sturdy plinth-style base with a rocky, textured surround — evoking a creature emerging from boggy ground, half-submerged and wholly dangerous. The composition reads as both trophy and threat — as if the dragon is considering you, rather than the other way around.
This miniature suits adventurers who:
- Want a dramatic centrepiece for their painting desk or display shelf
- Are running swamp, jungle, or wilderness campaigns featuring draconic threats
- Collect large-scale busts as showcase painting projects
- Need a fearsome dragon presence without a full-body sculpt
- Enjoy deeply textured subjects that reward every stage of painting — basecoat to final highlight
Encounter Hook: The village of Siltmere hasn't lost a fishing boat in three years — not since the elders began leaving tribute at the black-water shrine at the edge of the fen. But this season the tribute went unclaimed, and this morning the shrine was gone. Something has moved into the deep bog. Something old. Something with a crown of blades and no patience left for bargains.
