Description

The youngest Student of Evocation to ever crack the spine of the Arcane University's forbidden texts, Hoover Brightfeather studies not for wisdom's sake — but to understand the raw, volatile power that pulses beneath every syllable of a spell.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

Hoover Brightfeather is one of those sculpts that communicates everything about a character before a single word of lore is spoken. Wings spread wide in a dramatic half-crouch, he stands atop a swirling arcane base — currents of magical energy coiling beneath his taloned feet like a spell that refuses to be contained. One clawed hand clutches an open spellbook, its pages caught mid-turn, while the other reaches forward, fingers splayed as though the next evocation is already forming at his fingertips.

His attire marks him clearly as a scholar of the arcane — a long decorated robe belted at the waist, layered over ornate cloth bearing engraved detailing across the chest and hem. Every feather on those enormous wings is individually sculpted, from the dense downy plumage of his broad chest to the long primary feathers that sweep out to each side with real weight and presence. The rear view reveals the full span of those wings in all their glory — a genuinely dramatic silhouette that rewards painting from every angle.

His owl head — complete with ear tufts and the characteristic flat facial disc — gives him an expression that hovers somewhere between intense focus and barely-contained energy. This is not a student who sits quietly in lectures. This is the one who asks questions the professors wish he hadn't.

Whether you're playing an Owlfolk Wizard in a magic academy campaign or need a memorable NPC for your Arcane University encounter, Hoover brings a character-defining presence to the table. He's equally compelling as a display piece — the dynamic pose, layered feather textures, and swirling magical base make him a rewarding painting project for anyone who enjoys working on large, expressive sculpts.

This miniature suits adventurers who:

  • Are playing an Owlfolk or Birdfolk Wizard, Sorcerer, or arcane scholar character
  • Want a memorable Arcane University NPC or rival spellcaster
  • Enjoy painting intricate feather textures and flowing robes
  • Are building a magic academy, university, or urban arcane setting
  • Want a display piece that reads dramatically from every angle

Encounter Hook

The party is summoned before the Arcane University's disciplinary council — Hoover Brightfeather, a fellow student, has been experimenting with restricted Evocation sequences in the lower vaults. When they find him, he's not apologetic. He's surrounded by crackling force energy, spellbook open to a chapter that should have stayed sealed, and his expression makes it very clear he's not going to stop just because they asked nicely.
