Storm Giants occupy a rare space in the pantheon of D&D's giant-kin — ancient, wrathful, and possessed of a grandeur that lesser creatures can only marvel at. This sculpt captures one mid-stride, one knee lifting, every muscle coiled into the opening movement of a devastating overhead swing. He isn't rushing. He doesn't need to.
The detail across this sculpt rewards careful painters. The upper body is wrapped in layered scale armour across the shoulders and chest, transitioning into a pleated pteryges skirt reminiscent of ancient warrior kings. Rope-wrapped bracers circle his forearms, and the spiked maul he hefts overhead is a brutal, squared-off weapon — flat-faced and studded, the kind of tool designed to end arguments permanently. His plumed crested helmet speaks to rank and ceremony, while the long white beard beneath it lends gravity and age. This is a lord, not a brute.
At 76.5mm base size, this miniature commands the table as a huge-scale centrepiece creature. He makes an outstanding painting project too — the broad armoured surfaces offer plenty of room for weathering, Object Source Lighting from crackling storm energy, or aged verdigris on the metalwork.
Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:
- Need a formidable CR encounter to anchor a high-level campaign arc
- Want a characterful giant with martial bearing rather than a purely bestial silhouette
- Are building a Norse-flavoured pantheon of warrior-kings and sky rulers
- Prize large-scale display pieces with genuine painting potential
Encounter Hook: The party is summoned to a storm-lashed mountain citadel to negotiate safe passage through the high passes. They are ushered into the throne hall and told the lord will see them. When the doors at the far end grind open, the Storm Giant Lord strides through — maul resting across one shoulder, gaze sweeping across them with the casual appraisal of someone counting whether they're worth the effort. The negotiations begin. Whether they stay negotiations is up to the party's Persuasion rolls.
