Description

Where the earth itself buckles and heaves, twisted columns of layered stone burst from the ground — silent witnesses to the forces that shaped the world long before mortals walked it.

  • ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This set of stone rock formation scatter pieces captures the dramatic, stratified geology of a land twisted by tectonic force or ancient elemental magic. Each piece features deeply carved, layered rockwork — thin sheets of stone curling and arching upward into jagged spires and sweeping curves, with broken rubble scattered at their bases. The sculpts convey a real sense of weight and geological age, avoiding the cartoonish boulders common in cheaper terrain and instead offering something that reads as genuinely old and massive even at tabletop scale.

The set includes multiple pieces of varying height and form — tall arching slab formations, paired spire clusters, and lower broken outcroppings — giving you a flexible toolkit for dressing out a scene. Arrange them in a line to form a natural rocky barrier, cluster them as a centrepiece for an outdoor encounter zone, or scatter them individually across a wider map to break up open terrain and create meaningful cover.

The clean grey finish shown in the images makes the layered stone texture immediately apparent — this sculpt will reward drybrushing beautifully, with the raised edges catching highlights to bring out the natural stratification of the rock. A dark basecoat followed by two or three progressive drybrush layers of grey or sandstone will have these looking like genuine geological formations in an evening's painting session.

Well suited to adventurers who want to:

  • Add dramatic natural cover and line-of-sight blocking to outdoor encounter maps
  • Build out wilderness, highland, or mountainside battle environments
  • Create a visually distinct rocky terrain zone for a druid grove, giant's pass, or elemental rift encounter
  • Enhance dioramas or display boards with geologically detailed scatter pieces
  • Run arctic, desert, or wasteland encounters where distinctive rock formations define the landscape

Encounter Hook: The ranger crouches behind a curved slab of basalt, pressing her back against the cold stone as the stone giant's footsteps shake the ground twenty feet away. The formation is wide enough to block line of sight — barely — and her party has two rounds to reach the outcropping on the far side of the ravine before he turns. Place these formations across your map to turn a simple open-ground encounter into a tense, cover-dependent tactical puzzle.
