Description
It came from nowhere — a leathery blur of wings and needle-sharp proboscis — and before anyone could react, it had latched on and begun to feed.

The stirge is one of D&D's most deceptively dangerous low-level threats. Easy to dismiss as a nuisance, until three of them are attached to your wizard and draining the life from him at the start of every turn. This sculpt by MZ4250 captures that menace brilliantly — wings spread wide in a full diving posture, clawed feet outstretched and ready to latch, the creature caught at the precise moment before impact. It's a genuinely unsettling little monster, and that's exactly what makes it so effective at the table.
Whether you're stocking a fetid swamp, a dank cave network, or the darkened rafters of an abandoned keep, a stirge (or a swarm of them) immediately tells your players that something has gone very wrong. This miniature captures that feeling in physical form — detailed wing membrane, a hunched and predatory silhouette, and that horrible beak. Equally at home in a glass display case as it is on a battlemap.
Brilliant for adventurers who:
- Run low-level D&D 5e encounters and want memorable creature threats
- Need a flying menace to introduce to a swamp, cave, or dungeon encounter
- Are building a bestiary display collection of classic monsters
- Enjoy painting detailed creature miniatures with organic wing textures
Encounter Hook:
The party hears it before they see it — a rapid, leathery flapping echoing through the flooded tunnels ahead. Then the torch catches a pair of eyes. Then another. Then a dozen more, all blinking from the ceiling at once.
