The Tree Mimic is one of those creatures that rewards a Dungeon Master who enjoys the slow build of dread. No treasure chest, no suspicious door — just a gnarled, ancient-looking tree standing alone in a clearing, its twisted branches reaching upward like skeletal fingers. The sculpt captures that unsettling quality beautifully: the spiralling serpentine body coiling up through the dead wood, sharp branch-like protrusions bristling from every angle, and a wide root system that seems just a little too purposeful for something that's supposed to be rooted in place.
This is scatter terrain and monster in one. Place it in a forest clearing, a blighted vale, or the edge of a Feywild glade, and watch your players second-guess every piece of scenery on the table. Whether you're running it as a full mimic encounter or simply using it to set an atmosphere of quiet menace, this piece earns its place both on the gaming table and on the display shelf.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Want a mimic encounter that feels genuinely surprising rather than expected
- Are building a haunted forest, cursed woodland, or Feywild-adjacent encounter zone
- Love atmospheric scatter pieces that double as active threats
- Paint display-quality pieces with rich bark textures and organic detail
Encounter Hook:
The party has been tracking a missing scout for two days. They find the campsite intact — fire cold, bedroll untouched, pack still leaning against the only tree in the clearing. The tree has not moved. The tree is very much still here. The tree is, in fact, delighted to see them.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. Two base options are available: the single-piece model comes attached to its base, while the detachable-base version can be glued in place — useful if you want to mount it on a custom scenic base. Both options are supplied unpainted and ready for priming. Minor surface marks from the printing process may occasionally be present and are easily tidied up before painting.
