Description

It drifts in the dark beneath the archive, a bloated skull-faced sentinel bound to guard secrets no living mind was meant to read.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

The Spectator is one of the Underdark's more unsettling custodians — a lesser beholder-kin, summoned and set to watch over vaults, relics, and forgotten chambers for decades at a time. This sculpt by Yasashii Kyojin Studio captures that deeply alien quality with haunting precision: a swollen, fleshy cranium riddled with veins and creases, a single bulbous central eye, jagged fang-lined maw, and a writhing mass of fleshy tentacles hanging beneath its jaw like a grotesque beard. The side profile reveals the full horror of its organic, asymmetric bulk — every tentacle bloated and distinct, every ridge of its skull communicating something ancient and watchful.

Details

At 36mm tall, this is a genuinely striking presence on any battlemat. The sculpt lends itself brilliantly to layered wet blending on the fleshy tentacles and a glassy, luminous finish on that central eye. Equally at home on a display shelf as it is terrorising your party in a mid-campaign dungeon delve.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Run Underdark campaigns and need aberration encounters with genuine menace
  • Want a boss-level monster for a vault, library, or arcane sanctum encounter
  • Are building a beholder-themed collection across CR tiers
  • Enjoy painting organic, fleshy textures with strong sculptural depth
  • Collect display-worthy creature miniatures from independent artists

Encounter Hook:
The party has been hired to retrieve a stolen spellbook from a sealed mage's tower. The vault is unlocked, the book is visible on its pedestal — and then the shadows shift. The Spectator has been bound here for sixty years, its summoner long dead, and it has had a great deal of time to grow strange. It does not attack immediately. It speaks first, in a voice like parchment tearing, asking the party to prove they are the summoner's intended heirs. They are not.

This miniature comes at 36mm scale and includes a display floater base, which attaches easily with a small amount of glue. Supplied unpainted and ready for priming — minor imperfections inherent to the printing process may occasionally be present and are easily addressed before painting.
