Description
Between the living and the dead stands the Soul Warden — a solitary figure who carries the weight of lost spirits in iron lanterns, wandering the twilight borders of existence where no mortal dares to linger.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
The Soul Warden cuts a distinctive silhouette — wild, flowing hair catching an unseen wind, pointed ears marking fey or half-fey heritage, and a lean, bare-chested frame wrapped only in a tattered cloak and lengths of rusted chain. In each hand he holds a soul lantern suspended by those same chains: one a conventional iron cage with a flame within, the other a grotesque vessel shaped from bone. Chain also binds his forearms and trails down to a rune-engraved tome or tablet resting at his feet — a grimoire or binding stone of immense power, half-buried in crystalline shards that erupt from the base. The sculpt's detail is extraordinary, from the individual strands of windswept hair to the worn leather wrappings at his wrists.
This is a miniature built for moral ambiguity. He does not look villainous, nor entirely benign — he simply looks ancient and certain. Whether you place him as a psychopomp NPC guiding souls onward, a Warlock patron made manifest, a Shadar-kai wanderer, or a homebrew planar entity of considerable power, the Soul Warden demands attention at the table. Equally, painters will find rich reward in this sculpt: the layered fabric, the contrasting textures of chain, flesh, and crystal, and those wonderfully sinister lanterns offer a compelling centrepiece project for the display shelf.
This miniature is well-suited to adventurers who:
- Run campaigns in the Shadowfell, the Feywild, or other planar settings
- Need a compelling, ambiguous NPC or psychopomp encounter
- Want a Warlock patron made physical on the tabletop
- Are looking for a challenging and rewarding painting project
- Collect display pieces that tell a story without a word of explanation
Encounter Hook: The party's path through the Bleaklands is cut off when they find a lone figure standing in the road, two lanterns swinging from chains, their light casting no shadows. He offers no threat — only the names of three people the party thought they'd never hear spoken again, each inscribed in the glowing tablet at his feet. He knows where their souls went. He will share that knowledge. He has not yet said what he wants in return.
