Description

Born from the endless misery of the Shadowfell, the Wretched shambles through grey wastes on all fours — a swollen, barely-upright mass of flesh and desperate, gnashing hunger.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

Few creatures communicate raw despair quite like a Sorrowsworn, and the Wretched is the most pitiable — and most dangerous — of their kind. The Toadstool Weaver's sculpt captures the creature in horrible, convincing detail: a bloated, barrel-shaped torso ringed with thick folds of grey-green flesh, lurching forward on stubby clawed legs. Where a face might be expected, there is only an enormous, gaping maw — a circular void lined with rows of inward-curving fangs, like some great gullet turned outward to face the world. It is a mouth that exists only to feed, and it is always open.

The Wretched's body tells its own grim story. Rolls of distended skin wrap the torso in tight, overlapping folds. The arms — more vestigial than functional — press close to the body, and the creature crouches low, as though the weight of its own existence is almost too much to bear. On one of the renders you can see a second angle revealing a distinct, sunken eye set deep within the folds of flesh above the jaws — a reminder that something that might once have been aware still lurks within this wretched form.

This is a miniature that rewards a painter who enjoys working in sickly, desaturated tones. Pale greens, necrotic greys, and deep shadow washes in the folds of flesh will bring out every horrible crease. The maw is a natural focal point — layering up from dark brown depths to yellowed, slick-looking enamel on the fangs will make it truly unsettling on the table.

Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:

  • Run Shadowfell campaigns and need encounter-ready horrors beyond standard undead
  • Want a creature that visually communicates suffering and desperation to their players
  • Enjoy painting texture-heavy sculpts with strong focal points
  • Are building out a Sorrowsworn encounter group alongside the Lonely, the Lost, and the Angry
  • Want a distinctive display piece that stands out from more humanoid monster sculpts

Encounter Hook

The party emerges from a collapsed tunnel into a vast grey cavern. Ahead, a figure crouches over the remains of something — shoulders heaving, making no sound. As their torchlight reaches it, the thing turns. There is no face. There is only the maw — already opening wider. Three more shapes detach themselves from the shadows behind it. The Wretched have found something warm, and they do not intend to let it leave.
