Description

The drawing room looked inviting enough — plush cushions, ornate scrollwork, a settee clearly built for nobility — and then it smiled.

  • ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

The Sofa Mimic is one of those sculpts that rewards a second look and punishes a third. At first glance it is an opulent baroque loveseat, complete with tufted upholstery, decorative roses, and cabriole legs fit for a vampire's parlour. Look closer and the cushioned seat splits into a gaping jaw lined with row upon row of needle-sharp teeth, whilst a pair of gaunt, clawed arms unfold from beneath the ornate frame. It is absurd, it is deeply unsettling, and it is precisely the kind of encounter piece that makes players second-guess every piece of furniture for the rest of the campaign.

Details

This listing includes both versions of the sculpt: the revealed Mimic form — jaws agape, arms splayed, ready to lunge — and the disguised form, which presents as a completely innocent, beautifully detailed baroque sofa with scatter cushions included. Use the disguised version as dungeon dressing until the moment of reveal, then swap it out for the creature version mid-round. The detail on both is exceptional, from the intricate scroll carvings to the tufted button work on the backrest.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Want to run memorable trick encounters in a noble's manor, vampire's lair, or cursed parlour
  • Are building a Ravenloft or gothic horror-themed dungeon with high-quality scatter terrain
  • Need both a disguised and revealed state for seamless mid-encounter swaps
  • Collect display pieces that double as genuine conversation starters on the shelf

Encounter Hook:
The party has been invited to wait in the sitting room of Lord Valdris whilst his butler fetches him. The room is lavishly furnished. Three chairs. A writing desk. A sofa. The sofa is the only seat large enough for the party's Goliath Barbarian — who has, without rolling Perception, already sat down. The DC is 18. He rolled a 4. The sofa is very pleased.

Both the revealed Mimic and the plain sofa variants are included with this listing. Models are printed at 32mm scale. The base is included and attaches easily. As with all hand-finished pieces, minor imperfections may occasionally occur — these are simple to tidy up before priming. Both variants arrive ready for priming and painting, or can be used straight from the box as unpainted display or gaming pieces.
