Small Crater 03 by Novaminis

Where something fell — or something erupted — the scorched earth remembers, and the rim of this ragged crater tells a story your players will want to investigate.

• ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
• ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
• ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
• ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This is the third variation in Novaminis' Small Crater series, and it brings a satisfying organic irregularity to the table. The rim is uneven and chunky, with lumpen rock formations, pitted and cratered surface texture, and a deeply recessed bowl at the centre that draws the eye downward. The sculpt reads clearly as a genuine impact or eruption site — the kind of feature that makes your battlefield feel lived-in and consequential rather than flat and featureless.

Whether you're dressing a cursed wasteland, a blasted Avernus landscape, a meteor-struck highland pass, or a ritual site where something went catastrophically wrong, this crater drops straight onto your gaming table and immediately changes the visual weight of the scene. It is compact enough to fit neatly between miniature bases while still providing genuine line-of-sight blocking and tactical interest for cover mechanics.

Painted in earthy browns, ashen purples, and scorched greys, this piece would anchor a centrepiece diorama just as readily as it would pepper the edges of a larger encounter map. The deep surface detail rewards a simple drybrush-and-wash approach, making it equally accessible to newer painters and experienced hobbyists looking for a quick, high-impact result.

This terrain piece suits adventurers who:

• Run encounter-heavy campaigns and want fast, reusable scatter to dress the table
• DM wasteland, planar, or battlefield-themed sessions where scarred ground tells the story
• Enjoy building dioramas that show aftermath — craters, ruins, and signs of destruction
• Want terrain that rewards a quick paint but holds up under scrutiny on a display shelf

Encounter Hook

The party crests a ridge to find the earth ahead scarred by three fresh craters — still faintly smoking, still warm underfoot. No meteorite. No siege weapon. The tracks leading away are cloven-hoofed and enormous, and the nearest crater contains something that is definitely a tooth.
