This is the second sculpt in our Small Cairn range from Novaminis — a tightly stacked column of rough-hewn stones rising to a single rounded capstone. The sculpt captures the natural irregularity of hand-placed fieldstones, with each layer slightly offset and the surfaces richly textured with cracks, chips, and age. It reads convincingly as something built by hand, perhaps by a druid marking a ley line, a ranger noting a safe path, or something less benign entirely.
Whether dotted across a highland wilderness, arranged at a crossroads encounter, or placed within a stone circle on your battle map, this cairn adds the kind of environmental detail that makes players stop and ask questions. It works equally well as a display piece on a collector's shelf — particularly once painted with earthy ochres, mossy greens, and weathered greys.
Suited to adventurers who:
- Are building outdoor wilderness or moorland encounter maps
- Want scatter terrain that adds narrative weight without dominating a scene
- Paint environmental pieces for dioramas, display boards, or campaign photography
- Are collecting the full Small Cairn range alongside Cairn 01
Encounter Hook:
The party crests the ridge to find a cluster of cairns arranged in a rough spiral across the hillside — seven of them, each one slightly taller than the last. The druid recognises the pattern as a territorial marker used by hill giant clans, and the largest cairn at the centre has a fresh bloodstain at its base. Something left that here recently, and it was tall enough to reach the capstone.
Scaled to 32mm. Available with or without a plain black base — the base ships unattached and can be secured with a small amount of glue. Ready for priming and painting straight away; supplied unpainted. As with all hand-finished pieces, minor surface marks are possible and can be tidied up before painting.
