Description

Somewhere in the necromancer's sanctum, a single candle burns atop a grinning skull — its wax pooling into the eye sockets like time itself is melting away.

  • ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This scatter terrain piece captures one of tabletop gaming's most evocative details: the skull-as-candleholder. A staple of dark dungeons, cult shrines, and undead lairs, this sculpt by Mia Kay brings real character to the detail. The candle rises from the crown of the skull with wax dripping down the sides in rivulets, and the whole piece sits on a shallow raised plate, surrounded by broken teeth and bone fragments jutting from the ground. It's the kind of prop that makes players slow down and ask questions — exactly what great scatter terrain should do.

Whether you're dressing an alchemist's cellar, a lich's inner sanctum, or a forgotten tomb, this piece earns its place on the board. It's equally at home as a display piece on a shelf — a macabre little centrepiece that rewards close inspection and takes paint beautifully.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Want atmospheric scatter terrain for dungeon and crypt encounters
  • Are building a necromancer's lair, cult altar, or undead-themed battle map
  • Enjoy painting small detailed pieces with strong focal points
  • Collect display miniatures with a dark fantasy or Gothic aesthetic
  • Need a subtle environmental storytelling prop that sparks player curiosity

Encounter Hook:
The party enters a circular chamber lit by a single guttering candle balanced atop a human skull. As the rogue reaches for it, the jaw snaps shut — and the skull speaks. It claims to be the former court mage, bound here by the lich who took his library. He knows the way to the inner vault. He also knows what's guarding it. He hasn't decided yet whether to tell them.

Scaled to 32mm. The model with the detailed base comes as a single attached piece. The model with plain base comes with the base detached and can be fixed easily with a small amount of glue. Arrives ready for priming and painting, or use it straight from the box — it holds its own unpainted.
