This is Skull Pile 01 from Novaminis, a dense mound of human skulls heaped into a grim pyramid of bone. It's the kind of scatter piece that transforms a bare dungeon tile into something that tells a story before a single die is rolled. Whether it's the trophy collection of an Orcish warlord, the ritual centrepiece of a necromancer's inner sanctum, or the remnants of a village that no longer appears on any map, this piece carries weight far beyond its size.

Sculpted with convincing anatomical detail — each skull slightly different in angle and expression — the pile reads as genuinely accumulated rather than arranged. From the broad base skulls to the single crowning cranium at the apex, the composition has the look of something that grew over a very long time. It works equally well as a scene-setting scatter piece during play or as a centrepiece detail on a painted display board.

Suited to adventurers who:

  • Want evocative scatter terrain for crypts, dungeons, or necromancer lairs
  • Are building a Ravenloft, Avernus, or dark-domain campaign table
  • Need atmospheric props to reinforce encounter tone without words
  • Enjoy painting bone and weathering effects on display pieces
  • Are collecting graveyard or undead-themed terrain sets

Encounter Hook:
The party enters the sanctum of the Pale Archon to find the floor clear, the altar cold — and a single fresh skull placed atop a pile that reaches the ceiling. The Archon's phylactery is somewhere inside. The pile shifts when anyone steps too close.

Scaled to 32mm. Available with or without a plain black base — the base is supplied unattached and can be fixed with a small amount of glue. Ready for priming and painting straight out of the box; some minor cleanup of support marks may be needed, which is easily managed with a hobby knife or light sanding.
